History of Overland Park Firsthand (7/25/2008)

The Overland Park Historical Society, located at 8045 Santa Fe in Downtown Overland Park, has long been a supporter of area businesses.

Beginning in May, 2007, the OPHS has promoted and conducted Walking Tours of "Where Overland Park Began". This tour is offered (with rexervations) each Tuesday morning May through October (about 6 months of each year). The Tours were highlighted in the Overland Park Review this spring (2008) with photographs and story.

The tour guide is a retired Overland Park Police Lieutenant who dresses in a 1920's trolley conductor's costume. He takes interested folks on a 60-minute stroll down Overland Park memory lane. We have discovered that some of those joining the tour grew up right here in Overland Park and share their memories with us.

We welcome Robin Fish, the new executive director of the Downtown Overland Park Partnership and invite her to participate in one of these tours.
